Pimples above my upper lip?

Why would I get pimples around my upper lip,not exactly on the lip all the time. They start as red painfull bumps, then turn into white heads ready to be popped, filled with white pus. I know it sounds kind of like a cold sore, also, but I don't think cold sores get white heads with white pus,do they??? And I googled some images of cold sores and they don't look nothing like what I have. Any ideas????
