What do I do with these tulips?

I received tulips in plant form, for valentines day. I live in a cold temp area so I kept them inside with the intent of placing them in the ground when ground was warm enough to dig. They have since wilted and look dead. So, will they bloom again this year once I plant the bulbs in the ground? And should I go ahead and take the bulbs out of the dirt they came in?
