Explain the sigma bond and pi bond of covalent compounds in easy way?

Sigma bonds are stronger than pi. sigma bonds are formed due to head to head overlapping while pi are formed due to sidewise overlapping and as above it was wriiten out of two bonds one is sigma and one is pi but in case of co2 it is both bonds are pi bonds. it is exception.....
